Using examples from British and overseas magazines, posters, postcards and nose-art from the period, this book gives a flavor of the many delights available to the servicemen.
Author Mike Brown, an authority on the period, has researched deeply in archive sources to bring together a fascinating selection of photographs, picture postcards, artworks and drawings of beautiful women in beguiling poses. Ranging from tasteful nude portraits to the erotically charged paintings of artists like Alberto Vargas and the whimsical humor of Norman Pett's Jane, this book provides a wonderfully evocative vision of an age gone by.
REVIEWS
This beautiful little book is a little like a compilation of pictures (mainly photographs) such as you might find in an issue of Health and Efficiency - the girls in the photos are mostly exquisite to look at, and it's small wonder the servicemen of the allied nations had them in their possession... It's a lovely book with some quite stunning ladies, but for me, it could have been much bigger (as in the number of pages)!
