Gertie 41/42

During the 1939-45 war over 800 'B' class M.L.'s were built. They were of wooden construction, 112 feet in length, displacing 65 tons and powered by two Hall Scott Petrol engines. These small craft had a crew of two officers, usually R.N.V.R., and ten to twelve ratings.

This story is about one of those small boats, fictitiously named Gertie, during the period 1941/1942, patrolling the Gibraltar Straits. The tale recounts the patrols for submarines and the high tension of collecting agents, along with the inevitable high jinks of young men serving together in close quarters.
