As cities all over the world urbanized rapidly after the industrial revolution, most confront environmental problems such as poor air and water quality, high levels of traffic congestion and ambient noise, poor-quality built environment, derelict land, greenhouse gas emissions, urban sprawl, and the generation of waste and wastewater. In particular, cities in the developing world today face problems related to the living conditions and quality of Needless to say, Asia has the largest population, as well as the largest urban population, at risk.
