Learning Across the Early Childhood Curriculum, Education philosopher John Dewey viewed education as dynamic and ongoing with content knowledge taught experientially as an integrated whole. This volume of Advances in Early Education and Day Care extends the philosophy of John Dewey in the application and integration of academic skills into a holistic early childhood curriculum. As early childhood education (ECE) continues to rise to the top of federal, state, and local policy makers' agendas as a tool to improve children's academic performance in later grades, the time is right to introduce a book devoted to content learning in early childhood based on Dewey's philosophy. Toward that end, Learning Across the Early Childhood Curriculum has been written as a resource for early childhood teachers, as well as to answer the questions of what curriculum content will help children achieve learning in a digital, standards-based world.
