The House On The Hill

Jenna Lambert is heartbroken when her barrister husband has an affair with a colleague at his London chambers. In a bid to save the marriage they relocate to the beautiful and enigmatic Cambridgeshire fens, close to Jenna's childhood home. In their new house she experiences echoes from the past and gradually uncovers the tragic and desolate story of a doomed love affair. It is linked to a nearby farm, now ruined, and the sinister and oppressive Hundred House Wood which dominates the landscape. Jenna is helped with her research into the past by Cambridge academic Charlie Pritchard, and the pair become close as they unravel events which took place in the early part of the last century.

At the same time she restarts her career as an artist, something she relinquished on her marriage.

The House On The Hill is a love story, a ghost story and a mystery; also it is a woman's voyage of self-discovery.

The writing captures the unique atmosphere of the Cambridgeshire fens and surrounding countryside, and also details the devastation and pain of a marriage in crisis. It shows too, how Jenna rebuilds her confidence and emerges as a stronger, more resolute woman as a result.
