The Sublime Object of Ideology (1989) was Zizek's first major work for an English-speaking audience; websites now features his argument against the war in Iraq. Though this Slovenian scholar/ activist has been dubbed a member of the Slovene Lacanian School and a post-Marxist, Parker argues that such labels for his sociopolitical and philosophical analyses are too narrow for views that reflect the deconstruction of the Yugoslav state.
