Waterman's debut collection was at times intensely personal, including poems about growing up in the wake of a parental split across two countries. His second does not eschew equally personal themes, but is far less self-centred and more varied, and often addresses its themes in more complicated, indirect ways. The book also takes on localized, international and contemporary topics to consider our relationships with one another more broadly and often internationally.
