This is the first of two-themed volumes addressing Special Education International Perspectives. Volume 27 covers biopsychosocial, cultural, disability and technological content concerned with the global examination of special education in these areas. Volume 28 covers special education today in 24 countries. Volume 27 includes chapters that: (1) provide an overview on disability that focus on two major areas, namely, the biopsychosocial approaches to disability and cultural views of disability, (2) an in-depth examination of five high incidence exceptionalities domains: cognitive impairment, learning disabilities and attention deficit hyperactivity, autism spectrum disorders, behavioral/emotional disorders, and speech and language disorders, and (3) a description of technological advances in special education across the globe. There is limited literature examining issues in special education from an international perspective as such this volume will add considerably to the knowledge base across the globe.
