In 19th century Cornwall a gypsy family leave their summer employment and travel along the coast where a careless accident leads to a fateful string of events. Thus the beautiful and feisty Giselle Sweeney enters the world of Farmer Collingwood and his cliff top home. But gypsies move on and as Gisy elects to stay with her new love she forgets the power of convention and that Alan's world is alien to her.
