Colonisation, Migration, and Marginal Areas: A Zooarchaeological Approach

The proceedings for this session of the August 2002 conference include two session reviews and eleven papers on human and animal migrations and colonization in marginal areas, and zooarcheological approaches to describe their behavioral variability. Research topics include understanding human migration through that of animals, zooarcheological examinations of colonization, an analysis of patterns of dietary stress evident in bone fats, and the role of the hunt in tracing periodic migration. Methodologies presented include the necessity for a multidisciplinary approach in such cases as considering the systematic exploitation of fauna in migratory situations.
