In his autobiographical book Athene; Anatomy of a Dream' the author introduced us to Jean, his adored wife, and to the second great love of his life, “Athene”, their narrowboat home.

This anthology of his verse devotes a large section of its contents to underlining the soaring pleasure at having found two abiding loves in the afternoon of his life.

The poems have a naïveté which is refreshing in this age of cynicism and coarseness.
