A Stone in the Air

In the harbour yachts of all shapes and sizes slowly rose and fell with the swell, silhouetted by the rose pink light of the setting sun. Henry stared out from the balcony of his Rio de Janeiro apartment, his eyes drifting unseeingly across this magnificent scene, but his thoughts were far away. As he fingered Sophie’s letter imploring him to return to England he knew the time had come to chose between a jaded marriage played out beneath the grey skies of a safe and predictable England, or embrace the challenges of a new life in a land of sunshine, gaiety and ambivalent possibilities.
