There's More To Me

There's more to me than a pretty face

I'm bound and gagged in a scary place

There's more to me than a little white lie

There's more to me than meets the eye

There's more to me than a sickly joke

I'm lost and weak unable to cope

There's more to me than a blood stained tie

There's more to me than meets the eye

There's more to me than a listening ear

I'm cold heartbroken stay well clear

There's more to me than the Fourth of July

There's more to me than meets the eye

There's more to me than a loving son

I'm battered and bruised I live by the gun

There's more to me than a moonlit sky

There's more to me than meets the eye

There's more to me than a dapper white suit

Inside I'm drowning destitute

There's more to me than homemade pie

There's more to me than meets the eye

There's more to me than a nervous grin

I'm caught in a trap riddled with sin

There's more to me than a desperate cry

There's more to me than meets the eye

There's more to me than any word spoken

I'm starved of love internally broken

There's more to me than I care to deny

There's more to me than meets the eye

Should we ever meet my friend

Remember this poem and don't condescend

There's more to me than live and die

There's more to me than meets the eye

My Own Little Space

I rent a place where I can hide

With pen and paper by my side

Some place where I can be alone

My own little space to call my own

I rent a place in these horrid times

Immune from all the violent crimes

Some place where I can hide away

My own little space for me to play

I rent a place far away from here

Where no one dare to interfere

Some place where I can be myself

My own little space for inner health

I rent a place to be at peace

To allow the endless noise to cease

Some place where I can rest my head

My own little space to drop down dead

A Gift For Life

I spent all day with my Grandad Jim

We talked a lot he was frail and thin

Two days later he passed away

I'll never forget what he told me that day

Jim was radiant a beacon of light

Peaceful and blissful he glowed in the night

He knew he was dying but he didn't care

I could see in his eyes he had so much to share

He gave me an insight a gift for life

Death is an angel a beautiful wife

Live each day with gratitude and kind

And never be controlled by fear or mind

Walk on this earth with no purpose or need

Never get attached to anger or greed

Life is a journey not a race to be won

Don't be so serious life should be fun

Only speak out when it's from the heart

Jealousy and torment will tear you apart

Never waste time trying to impress

You are already whole eternal and blessed

I'll never forget those words from Jim

They stay with me always through thick and thin

My dear old Grandad in spirit alive

God bless you Grandad from your nephew Clive

I Am This Body

I am this body no more no less

I am not greatness I am not blessed

I am no better than you or I

I am this body until I die
