Science, Style and the Study of Community Structure

In 1951 the Lower Mississippi River Valley Survey generated a large assemblage of ceramic material relating to prehistoric populations in the area. This study uses this and more recent data to assess and analyse the stylistic elements of the decorated ceramics in an attempt to reconstruct the transmission of stylistic traits and patterns of population movement and interaction in the past.
