The Struggle for Indigenous Rights in Latin America

Social scientists at US universities, except one from Spain, survey the diverse struggles for indigenous rights across Latin America. Among the examples they describe are the struggle for a multi-ethnic Mexican society, Maya movements in post-war Guatemala, historical changes and perspectives on struggles in Colombia, moving from the politics of influence to the politics of power in Ecuador, articulations and fragmentations in Bolivia, and Lula's victory in Brazil as an example of the Latin American left.
