COLIN BAGLIN is a retired nuclear engineer. He is a member of the Institute of Mechanical Engineers and the Nuclear Institute. His early work included calculating the effects of dimensional change in the reactor cores of the Wylfa Nuclear Power Station and later for Hartlepool and Heysham Nuclear Power Stations. Structural and thermal analysis of the AGR core restraint systems and refuelling machine followed.

He was later head of a small group of safety and reliability engineers whose work covered a number of systems in nuclear reactors, spent fuel storage systems and railway engineering and the production of safety cases.
