Sustainable Irrigation and Drainage V: Management, Technologies and Policies

This book contains papers presented at the fifth International Conference on Irrigation, Management, Technologies and Policies, in held in Poznan, Poland, in June, 2014. The meeting was organized by the Wessex Institute of Technology, represented by Professor C A Brebbia, and the Universities of South Australia and Lethbridge (the latter in Canada), both represented by Professor Henning Bjornlund.

Presenters at the meeting provided examples of how irrigation can become more sustainable, taking into consideration that it accounts for the greatest use of water in most regions of the world. The papers presented at conference generated debate and ideas about how to improve irrigation systems, making them more environmentally, socially and economically sustainable. The meeting attracted a number of delegates from all over the world, with papers dealing with irrigation management, irrigation systems and planning, climate change effects, groundwater issues and socio-economic benefits.
