Scottish Children's Hearing System in Action

This unique book provides explicit coverage for those involved in the Scottish children's hearings system. It comprises two case histories - one being the "alleged offenses by the child" and the other being "care and protection," reflecting the dual nature of the Scottish system. Each case is traced from the outset through the hearings procedures, into the Scottish sheriff court, and final disposal by hearing with possible appeal to the sheriff against the decision of the hearing. At appropriate points in the book, commentary is inserted in order to explain what is happening and why. The book also contains completed forms for use in relation to hearings and court proceedings, with guidance on good practice in relation to the various procedures. The book includes appendices containing specimen documents which have not been reproduced elsewhere, such as police reports and social enquiry reports.
