The Ultimate Spectacular

The British government thought that the Good Friday Agreement had signalled the end of thirty years of bloody conflict in Northern Ireland. However, a small hard-line group of dissident Irish republicans, calling themselves the Real IRA, are committed to carrying on the violent struggle.

To combat this threat to the peace process a young and inexperienced British soldier, Ian Armstrong, agrees to go to Ulster as an undercover agent to gather crucial intelligence. He travels to the border village of Ballyfinn in the republican heartlands determined to succeed in this, his first covert operation.

However, the odds are stacked against him. From the outset the natives are suspicious of this outsider who has come to live amongst them. Before long, he comes to the attention of the Real IRA and Armstrong hopes that his basic training and wits will be enough to get him out of Ireland alive.
