Under Blue Skies

A major European oil company suffers another catastrophic incident with the sinking of a new production platform, so its president commissions a once-and-for-all investigation into its massive failures. The company cannot afford to continue haemorrhaging cash at the current rate and, what is more, it is fast becoming the laughing stock of the global oil industry.
Arve Duvin, a government agent turned corporate sleuth, enlists the help of his long-time associate, Bill Jeffries, who provides secret troubleshooting services to oil companies. The two former spooks mount a covert investigation of unparalleled scope and intensity, to identify and eliminate the cause of the company's problems.
Their work begins in the UK but rapidly develops into a complex international hunt for the clues to flush out the mastermind behind the corruption. Duvin pulls the strings from Norway, while Jeffries shuttles between his London base and Europe, the Caribbean and Central America. Personal relationships are strained because no-one knows who to trust.
The action moves between the UK, Scandinavia, the Americas and Europe. Government agencies are briefed; some are helpful, others aren't. Undercover work in Switzerland points to powerful forces behind the spurious activities and stirs up a hornets' nest in Berne's corridors of power.
