Excavations at Little Oakley, Essex, 1951-78: Roman Villa and Saxon Settlement

A report on two series of excavations carried out between 1951 and 1975 and between 1975 and 1978, at Little Oakley, north-east of Colchester. It summarises evidence for the pre-Roman period, the Iron Age settlement preceding the Roman villa of the 2nd to 5th century AD. This integrated series of reports also includes the material finds and discussion of the wider area around the villa and its relationship with the major town of Colchester.
