Amadiume (Dartmouth College) here concludes a trilogy that she began in 1987 with and continued in 1997 with . She charts the genealogy of class transformation in the 20th century, critiquing developmentalism and proposing a commitment to equity and gender democratization. Using the metaphor of a collectivist, humanist culture of traditional African matriarchal heritage, she contrasts daughters of the Goddess with a corrupt and oppressive culture of imperialism, which she finds to be the heritage of contemporary elite-led women's organizations.
