Equality in Action: A Way Forward with Persona Dolls

Persona Dolls are used to promote social justice. They help to empower children and give them the skills and confidence to stand up for themselves and others when they encounter discrimination. Drawing on evidence from hitherto unpublished research, the book highlights the impact of the Persona Doll approach and validates what has until now been assumed but not substantiated.The power of Persona Dolls to challenge discrimination at the foundation stage and at key stages 1 and 2 is explained in psychological and sociological terms and illustrated by case studies. Compelling arguments for implementing inclusive and anti-discriminatory education are presented, along with a concise overview of equality legislation, like the Race Relations Amendment Act, and relevant statutory and non-statutory requirements. Countering inequalities is no longer an option.
