Shared Space: Rethinking the U. S.-Mexico Border Environment

Fellows at the Center for US-Mexican Studies in San Diego aired early versions of the 14 studies at a February 1999 workshop and public seminar there, and believe they will comprise a preview of growing concern about the ecology and environmental management of the border region during the emerging century. They discuss rethinking the environmental future, decentralization and local governance, the politics of land and water development, and alternative approaches to making policy for sustainable development.
