The Painted Photographs of Melvin Charney

Since 1989, Canadian artist Melvin Charney has created painted photographs—stylized portrayals of buildings executed in pastel or thin washes of paint and superimposed on printed mass media images—that expose the triumphs, tragedies and absurdities of the modern city.
