This work contains the essays: "How to be a Heathen," "The Alchemy of Yggdrasill," The Way of Woden" and "The Secret of the Gothick God of Darkness." These are among Edred's most influential earlier works and provide a philosophical basis for later works in the Germanic tradition. "How to be a Heathen" is really a program of study that can be used by anyone.
