Illustrated with b&w photos from Ellsworth's life and expeditions, the volume describes his adventures in pursuit of unknown lands. Coverage includes the explorer's 1926 attempt to fly over the North Pole in a dirigible and his Antarctic journeys by ship through treacherous grinding ice. Pool was a personal friend of Ellsworth's.
