Author Biography: Joan Guntzelman holds a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from the University of New Mexico and a Master's in Clinical Psychology from Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. She is a clinical assistant professor in the department of psychiatry at the University of New Mexico School of Medicine. A general counselor with a private practice, Guntzelman often presents lectures and workshops to professionals in the medical field and other caregivers on how to deal with loss and adjust to the stresses of their jobs. Guntzelman also directs Ring Lake Ranch, a not-for-profit, non-denominational retreat center in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming that provides seminars anddiscussions for spiritual renewal. She has written numerous articles and several books on dealing with loss, including 124 Prayers for Caregivers. Guntzelman lives in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Dubois, Wyoming.
