This book provides the first unified theory of nutrient deficiency and dependency since the idea was first broached by Dr Pauling in the 1960s. Some people may be vitamin deficient, where the diet does not offer enough vitamins to satisfy their needs, leading to classic deficiency diseases, such as scurvy and beriberi. Others may be vitamin dependent, where the diet contains enough of the nutrient for the average person but not enough for individuals with extremely high requirements. These patients will experience general ill-health, manifesting in a wide variety of disease conditions.
The authors review research studies of vitamin B-3 dating back to the 1930s and show that large, controlled doses of vitamin B-3 are effective in preventing, treating, and even reversing such vitamin B-3 deficiency and dependency related diseases and conditions as pellagra, schizophrenia, cardiovascular disease, alcoholism, cancer, Parkinson's, Huntington's, and Alzheimer's disease, as well as stress, anxiety, and fatigue. Fully referenced, this book marks a new era in the clinical study and use of vitamin B-3 therapy.
