English Sea Power, 871-100 AD

This work examines the largely untold story of English sea power prior to the Norman Conquest. The author illuminates the much-neglected period 871 to 1100, an age when English rulers deployed naval resources, first against Norse Invaders, and later as an instrument of state in relations with neighbouring countries. The author has gathered together information about the appearance and use of fighting ships during the period.
