Griffiths has published many books on Anglo-Saxon language, literature, and culture. Here he begins with a series of essays on concepts and world views relating to magical beliefs and practices among Anglo-Saxons in Britain. Then he presents 36 texts of charms, augury, and science and knowledge in the original Old English, Icelandic, or Latin, with modern English translations.
