Shoham explores the "radical dualism" of the Gnostic traditions (Gnosticism, Kabbala, and existentialism). These traditions are explained in the context of two models taken from Greek mythology—the Sisyphean and the Tantalic—which produce a twofold dialectic of desire. A widely published author on a variety of topics, Shoham has recently been resident at the universities of Oxford and Harvard and at the Sorbonne. The book is distributed in the US by ISBS.
