These twelve papers, from the Second Shifting Frontiers in Late Antiquity Conference held at the University of South Carolina in 1997, examine the laws and government of Late Antiquity, searching for traces of the transition from Classical to Christian. This is a well-presented study with notes confined to the end of each paper.
