Placing ladders: Harnessing our leadersHiP Potential

We are delighted to introduce Placing Ladders: harnessing our leadership potential which brings together a range of leadership stories from the NHS North West chief executive community. The book offers the chance for us to share our leadership experiences - good and bad - and reflect on the challenges we have faced and how these have been overcome. Good leadership in the NHS is a central theme of the next steps review and here in the North West we have already established a strong leadership community among chief executives and other senior NHS leaders through support from the NHS North West leadership academy as a membership organisation. The academy has responded to the priorities of its members by commissioning a wide range of leadership development programmes. In addition, the academy has a commitment to sharing the abundance of good leadership practice across the North West as well as bringing in expertise from national and international figures. It is in the spirit of sharing leadership stories and experiences that this book is published. The stories are wide ranging and reflect different approaches by the contributors, but all are united by the goal of leading teams, organisations and systems to benefit the patients we serve.
