David Livingstone

The ten essays in this volume of original scholarship present a twenty-first century perspective on the Scottish missionary and explore David Livingstone (1813-1873) ? the man, the myth and his legacy. Combining the work of scholars in Africa, America and the United Kingdom and bringing together academic disciplines including medicine, geography, social history, literature and museum history, the collection has been published to coincide with the bicentenary of his birth. It reflects on David Livingstone in his own time and the ways in which he has been memorialized since his death.
