'African Performance Practices

In the volume of African Performance Review the editors have put together an eclectic mix of essays which cover the wide spectrum of African theatre and performances: from oral performances (Gladys Akunna, Mnena Abuku and Christian Nwaru) to theatre-for-development (Samuel Kafewo), from African video movies (Osita Okagbue) to the reception of Goethe in Africa (Felicia Ibemesi), and from Duro Oni's essay on theatre design in the university curriculum to Victor Ukaegbu's excellent review article based on Osita Okagbue's African Theatres and Performances (Routledge, 2007). This volume strongly fulfils the founding ethos of APR which is to be the foremost outlet of African theatre and performancer scholarship worldwide.
