Stewart Headlam's 1888 translation of parts 2 and 3 of Carlo Blasis' 'Code of Terpsichore'.
Headlam was an Anglican priest who fought for the right of the performing arts, and in particular ballet, to be recognised as serious art forms. In the preface to this translation he writes 'My chief object in producing this book is to enable the public to understand better than they do at present how difficult the art of dancing is, and so to induce them to appreciate more fully the dancers and their work.'
