In racing circles, whether motorbikes, cars or even athletics, it is important to lead the field into the first bend. Often it is the opportunity to win, and if at the back of the pack a mammoth task to forge one's way to the front. Frequently there is no hope for the back markers. Rick Moffat became a good motorbike speedway rider and excelled at motorbike scrambles, too. However, the first bend in his love life seemed an impossibility to reach.
