Diary Of A Nobody

1880s: Charles Pooter is a middle-aged clerk in London, a 'Nobody' who aspires to be a 'Somebody'. In a diary covering fifteen months of his life, and that of his family, friends and acquaintances, we meet a man who is, in turns, hard-working, loyal, honest - and vain, pompous and gullible. Charles strives to deal with embarrassments, parties, home improvements, and a troublesome son; and the small-minded but essentially decent suburban world he inhabits is both hilarious and painfully familiar.
