Neither Greek Nor Jew: The Way to Freedom

Order of the Temple and arrests its members, but many manage to escape his sheriffs, finding refuge among friends or family.

Such is the case of Sir David and his companions, prompted to seek safety elsewhere. They think of one place, an excommunicated land, where they will be able to secure the treasures of the Order, its secrets, and live by the tenets of their faith as Knights of the Temple of the Lord: Scotland. But the home of the Scots is in turmoil. King Robert the Bruce is at war with his English enemies and Scottish claimants to the throne, battling them with all his might. The refugees are called upon to help bring peace to the land, and they answer.

Setting out to look for the means to raise an army for King Robert, the companions gather many friends and allies. Their quest takes them to various lands, from England to Scotland, and then to Ireland and the very heart of the Swiss Alps, where they establish several alliances vital for the war in Britain. All of their journeys are full of events that shape their personalities, preparing them for the ultimate battle.

Two stories are also told: King Robert the Bruce’s, securing his kingdom after losing almost everything he held dear, and King Edward Plantagenet’s, fighting mighty barons and earls that attempt to bring the English crown to its knees.

The tales arrive at a common point, as the climax approaches and an imminent clash between both monarchs builds up: King Robert fighting against possible annihilation; King Edward thrust into the war to keep his rule. It is then that the actions of the banished Templars are put to the test.
