An Idea Appeared

When pen came to paper an idea appeared;
at first just a verse,
or a phrase that endeared;
Some words in a row that sounded quite clever,
complementing each other by standing together;
Some lines once refined and a rhyme neatly timed;
a discreet little metre,
a sing-song like chime,
Then an idea that swelled,
blossomed, evolved,
until all the loose ends were tried, tied, and solved,
and every fine detail was tested and cleared;
When pen came to paper,
an idea appeared.
