Why not accompany Tom Lindsay in his career as a geologist, mainly searching for or mining diamonds?

His work, over forty or so years, has taken him around southern and eastern Africa, east to China, south to Australia and then back to Africa. With the occasional side-trip to other destinations (although not in this book). You can visit South Africa (fleetingly), then head off to the northern border of the early 1980's war-torn South West Africa.

From there, in no particular order, journey to Communist China, outback Australia, other parts of Africa and meet a variety of people in settings which are definitely unusual. Lindsay’s recollections range well beyond geological reminiscences and you'll not only pick up some of the whys and wherefores of diamond exploration but also a flavour of the worldwide social and political changes which have taken place since the 1970’s.
