Kirby is a new wildlife offi cer recruit whose work exposes him to environmental vandals and an assortment of disagreeable characters. His high ideals are sometimes challenged by people and situations requiring treading the thin line between doing it by the book and delivering natural justice.

The villains include poachers, fi sh-netters and bird dealers but Kirby doesn’t always get his man. It’s an ongoing battle and along the way we meet ‘huge Right Whales, fl uffy baby koalas and a feral cat large enough to eat two honeyeaters, four geckos and a Feather-tail Glider in one meal’.

Wildlife Offi cer Kirby Wellington’s work sees him seeking shelter and justice for animals and birds in danger while he pursues those who seek to exploit wildlife and the environment – the story of a real wildlife warrior told as an Aussie yarn.
