Orville Wright, together with his brother Wilbur, and with careful observation, perseverance, and ingenuity, designed and constructed a power-driven airplane. Changing the world forever, Orville and his brother made the first-ever controlled, sustained flights. Now the skies were opened, and the era of aviation began (1871-1948).
