LETS START WITH THE KIDS

Nearly 1.7 million children in the United States have a parent in prison. Parental incarceration often leaves children with feelings of confusion, abandonment, anger, and sadness. They feel vulnerable, frequently blame themselves, and are afraid to talk to others about their missing parent. There are, however, various interventions that can foster resiliency in these children. They need predictable, caring relationships as well as protection and support from the community.

Let's Start with the Kids is a curriculum developed by Let's Start, Inc. This excellent tool for educators, counselors, and social workers assists them in their endeavor to support children to effectively manage the risk factors in their lives. The curriculum has proven to be a source of hope for children as they communicate with and support each other.
