RTI and Classroom Behaviors

Teachers know that students learn best in well-managed classrooms in which problem behaviors, such as interrupting or other disruptive or inappropriate behaivors, present rarely. "RTI & Classroom Behaviors," a quick-reference guide by noted RTI expert Jim Wright, uses the framework of RTI to demonstrate how teachers can create a foundation for positive classroom behaviors and effectively respond to common behavior problems.
The six-page (tri-fold) laminated guide recommends a variety of specific tier 1 (whole class) strategies for creating an optimal learning environment. It also offers a variety of tier 1 strategies for responding to minor behavior problems, including non-compliant or defiant behaviors, inattentive behaviors, and hyperactive behaviors. Targeted (tier 2 and 3) interventions, such as a rewards system and behavior contracts, are also provided for addressing more serious or persistent behavior problems with individual students or small groups.
