On December 8, 1940, the Chicago Bears pulled off the most lopsided victory in NFL history and walked away champions beating the Washington Redskins 73-0. Just three weeks earlier the Redskins defeated the Bears 7-3 at Griffith Stadium in Washington. In the aftermath of that game some Bears players said that they never should have lost. They fell they were the superior team and didn't feel the result was just. Between these games Redskins' owner George Preston Marshall was heard calling the Bears whiners and complainers and summed them up as a bunch of crybabies; saying so more than once. That prompted Bears owner George Halas to plaster all the stories on the locker room bulletin board. The Bears would get their revenge. Between 1940 and 1946, the Chicago Bears won four NFL Championships, and yet no one who played in that 1940 game ever forgot it, nor did anyone who witnessed it. 73-0! Bears Over Redskins takes you back to the golden era of Beats football and all the people that made that time special.
