The first section, Lip Service, was composed using Google news alerts, employing four search strings of four words each over the course of one month from January 1 to February 1, 2008.

The second section, Sound Noise, was composed using Google blog alerts employing sixteen search strings of four words each over the course of one week from Monday, April 28 to Monday, May 5, 2008.

The third section, Basic Hearing, was composed using Google groups alerts, employing sixty-four search strings of four words each over the course of one day from Friday, February 20 to Saturday, February 21, 2009.
