Winter Melon

Winter Melon is the epic story of Gong Ree a feisty seventeen year old who is brutalized and losses most everything precious to her at the hands of the savage Sergeant Suzuki. Winter Melon is an evocative story of survival, resilience, and redemption.

The year was 1937 the Japanese army have invaded China, creating a tidal wave of death and destruction in their paths. Reaching the provisional capitol Nanking they begin the systematic rape, torture, and murder of hundreds of thousands of Chinese citizens.

Decades later, Ree is now a famous artist, invited to a ceremony in Nanking, commemorating the fortieth anniversary of the Nanking Holocaust. There she meets once again the monster of her dreams, Sergeant Suzuki who is now posing as a prominent Chinese businessman. Ree conspires to kill Suzuki, she wrestles with her conscience. Does she kill him or not?
