Wind in the Wires

Young and privileged racing sailors of various nations gather at a venerable yacht club for a prestigious weekend regatta. Strangers meet and compete for a silver cup for the first time, since not long before they competed in trench lines and sea lanes for the dominance of Europe and in a real sense, the world. The changes imposed by the bitter peace following the Great War prove daunting. As elegant yachts vie for every advantage around local buoys, grieving competes with new love and prosperity battles political and social change. Amid the raw emotions of wounded survivors, in one way or another, the passion found in uniquely American musical art forms, the blues and jazz, begin to fuel the roar of the 1920’s. The tension culminates in fierce competitors questioning the true meaning of personal honor and real victory.
